I am a firm believer that important documents need a safe place and for a while now, I have been thinking that a safe was a must have for our household….Now you probably know that DH is a computer engineer, so I can say that we are a very Tech savvy home , so I was very interested in the SentrySafe SFW123GTF safe which can keep our valuables protected and that includes a lot of our data…As we both spend a lot of time in our computers with work/ blog related matters and have a lot of information and data that we consider important….And there are family photos and documents.

My husband is the one that set up the safe….Please note that in order to set it up, you will need 4 AAA batteries? So make sure to have those at handy as they are not included with the safe. The key pad on the safe lights up to facilitate punching in the password on your safe.

Your safe comes with an assigned password, but you can add an extra password sort of like a second user, but even if you do add a second password ( which we did), you can always use the main password that came with the safe to open it in case you forget the password you assigned to it. As an additional safety feature, the SentrySafe SFW123GTF Electronic Fire Safe comes with a set of two keys, if you used the keys to lock up the safe, you will need to use them again in conjunction with the password to open it as the password alone will not work.

The safe features bright, LED interior lighting to make organizing belongings inside the safe easier, inside the safe, you will also find tray so you have a second label and a better organizing space.

Also in the inside of the door, you will find a series of hooks that you can use to hang different objects such as important keys. As part of the safety features on the safe, the SFW123GTF has 4 large 1-inch bolts that are built in the door and it is part of the mechanism that locks the safe door.

Also in the inside of the door, you will find a small pocket, big enough to keep a hard drive and right above this pocket is the USB port that connects to the outside part of the door. Please note that this USB connection allows you to access your hard drive that is placed inside the safe, but the USB port itself is not protected, so anyone can have access to it that plugs into the USB slot.

The feature allows you to protect the hard drive inside in case of a fire or flood (ETL verified for 1 hour fire protection of CDs and DVDs up to 1700° F and ETL verified for water-resistance in up to 8″ of water for up to 24 hours). In addition, the safe is ETL verified 15 ft. Drop Test. The safe is heavy, but we can still slide it on the carpet.

This is a great addition to our home and I am definitely happy to have the safe at home. The one thing I would probably change on the safe is the outside handle that in my opinion could be a little sturdier.

The interior is 1.2 cubic feet and large enough to store a lot of items and at 100 pounds, its not like some of the small fireproof safes that secure your belongings from fire, but anyone could just walk off with it.

Overall, this safe accomplishes exactly the goals that we had in mind for it. That being, securing our valuables such as passports, valuables, and of course photos and things that can’t really be replaced in case of fire or flood.

The SentrySafe SFW123GTF has a retail price of 319.99 and it is available at selected retailers.
